DAHMER, Mrs. Elvia Ann (LeCain), 94, of Linden Ponds in Hingham and formerly of New Hartford and West Simsbury, CT., passed away peacefully January 26, 2015.

She was born in Chelsea, MA and raised in Medford, MA. With a bachelor’s degree from Lesley College and The University of Hartford and a master’s degree from The University of Hartford, Mrs. Dahmer embarked on what would become a sterling career in teaching. From the classrooms in Boston and Hartford areas to classrooms in France, Germany, and Russia she explored her various interests and always sought to learn something new.

Touched by generosity and with a strong conviction and personal commitment to volunteering, she gave of her skills as life guard and swimming instructor, WWII volunteer in the map rooms of the Signal Corporation, Garden Club member, Parent Teacher Association officer, and most recently makeup artist for various Linden Ponds theatrical productions.

Elvia valued the core of family, was guided by those values, raising her three daughters with the same. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Richard Dahmer and devoted mother of Beverley Sved of Scarsdale, NY, March Wyatt of Plymouth, MA, and Emily Walsh of Simsbury, CT. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She will be remembered and missed for her love of family, love of country, her kind heart, adventurous spirit, her convertibles, and for her drive to always continue to learn.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Celebration of her life on February 6 at  12:00 at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elvia may be made to the South Shore Conservatory, attn: Development Office, One Conservatory Dr. Hingham, MA 02043.
