Elliott A. Gabriel

Gabriel, Elliott A. “Gabe” of Weymouth, died May 15, 2014.

Although Elliott was born in Quincy, he was raised and educated in Braintree. In his youth he was a member of the Braintree Warrior Drum and Bugle Corp. From Braintree high school he joined the Marine Corps and served for 4 years. When he returned from his military service he move to his home in Weymouth and joined the Weymouth Police Department. He attended Stonehill College where he earned an associates degree in criminal justice. He would go on to become a detective in the department until his retirement in 2003. He was married to his loving wife Maria DiTocco Gabriel for 45 years. Elliott served on the committee for the POW/MIA at the Weymouth Elks. Although Gabe loved his afternoons at the Weymouth Elks and the company of his dogs over the years, what he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his family and friends in Weymouth and West Yarmouth.

Devoted husband of Maria (DiTocco) Gabriel of Weymouth, Loving father to Christopher A. Gabriel of Weymouth, and Lenore P. Gabriel of Weymouth. Beloved brother to Eugene Gabriel of Hingham and John Gabriel of Whitman. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Family and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:00AM prior to the Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 10 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne to immediately follow.
