Minahan, Ellen S. (Conway) of Braintree, formerly of Weymouth, passed peacefully and entered the gates of heaven on February 14, 2024. She lived a miraculous life lasting 102 years. Ellen was born and raised in Brookline. MA, to the late John and Mary Conway. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s of Brookline. Ellen volunteered at South Shore Hospital and worked for several years for Alves Photo. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. Ellen was adored by those who knew her, she radiated pure love and kindness, and truly had an endless stream of wisdom. In her free time, you could always find Ellen immersed in one of her favorite mystery novels or a gritty drama. She had the voice of an angel and was a proud member of the Sweet Adeline’s Singing Group. She was a world class cribbage champion and you could always find her looking absolutely stunning wearing her signature pink lipstick.
Beloved wife of over 50 years to the late John A. Minahan. Loving mother of Jack Minahan and his wife Maureen of Naples, FL, Patricia MacDonald and her husband Richard of Naples, FL, Dennis Minahan and his wife Debra of Duxbury and Nancy Taylor and her husband Greg of Pleasanton, CA. Cherished Grammie of 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Ellen is predeceased by her brother Frances Conway, and sisters, Marjorie Butler, Anne Conway and Mary McCone.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery shall be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Ellen to The Paralyzed Veterans of America or The Perkins School For The Blind.
