Ellen K. Pender, of Weymouth, passed away suddenly on January 12, 2025. She was 68.
Anyone that knew Ellen, knew that she was one of a kind - a true character in every sense of the word. Those on her good side had a friend who would do anything for them, no matter how high the climb nor how wide the swim. A constant source of entertainment, talking with, or being with, Ellen was a joy for those of us who knew her best and appreciated her unique outlook on life. We'll miss the phone calls, the irreverent options on the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots and the people who she characterized with odd nicknames and rich descriptions.
To say she was loved by many is an understatement. People like Ellen don't come along often. So many of us keep low profiles and are weary to say what we think; not Ellen. Educated in the Weymouth School System, with a short, but colorful, stint at Westfield State, Ellen was both street smart, mechanically inclined and blessed with a borderline photographic memory. A PHD in Family History, she was the one to go to for accurate information, no matter the time line. Famously, she recounted specific details from our Uncle Joe's wedding when visiting last year in Florida that even he had forgotten, or was just unaware of.
The thing is, his wedding was in 1962 and she was the six year old flower girl. Yes, one of a kind in many ways. She will be missed by everyone who knew her but especially by her family, for whom she played a special, unforgettable and irreplaceable role.
