It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Parnell, who peacefully passed away on April 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband, Jesse Alan Parnell. Betty was 83 years old.
Born on March 24, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, Betty was the daughter of Daniel Lynch and Mary Lynch. Betty was raised in Baldwin, NY where she met her beloved husband, Al. Betty and Al were married for over 60 years and together built a beautiful family. Betty is survived by her husband, Al, of Hingham, MA and their three children, Jesse Alan Parnell Jr. of Weymouth, MA, Sean Parnell and his wife Kelley of Bedford NH, and Brian Parnell and his wife Nicole of Hingham, MA. Betty was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Alyssa, Hannah, Dylan, Maeve, Jessica, and Ethan, all of whom she cherished deeply. Betty is also survived by her brother Daniel Lynch of Del Ray Beach, FL, sister Patricia Headley of Columbus, OH, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her brother James Lynch.
Betty had a long and fulfilling career as a mortgage broker, first in Hingham, and later in The Villages in Florida, where she and Al spent several joyful years before returning to the South Shore to spend more time with family.
Outside of her career, Betty enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved sitting on her sunporch with a glass of wine, shopping for antiques with Al, and maintaining a beautiful home. As an avid supporter of Boston sports teams, she could always be counted on to cheer passionately for her favorite teams. Her love for her family, friends, and the things she enjoyed was evident to everyone who knew her.
Betty’s life was one filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As special thank you to the compassionate caretakers at the Queen Ann Nursing Home, who made Betty as comfortable as possible.
A celebration of life will be held at the Weathervane Golf Club on Wednesday, April 16th at 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA 02472 (http://support.perkins.org).
