Lawson, Elizabeth Gayle, 71, of Hull, died July 18, 2009 after a difficult struggle with cancer. A memorial service will be held in St. Nicholas Methodist Church, 128 Spring St., Hull Village on Saturday, August 8th, 2009 at 11 AM followed by brunch at Sunset Bay Marina in Hull at noon. Miss Lawson, a native of Spartanburg, SC, lived in Columbia, SC throughout her childhood and was a longtime resident of the Hull, MA community. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, she moved to Waltham, MA more than 45 years ago. She worked for Puritan Fashions and Polaroid Corporation as head of telecommunications at each company for many years, and for the First National Bank of Boston as Assistant Vice President of Telecommunications. After her retirement she became a well known artist and an active member of the Hull artist community. She specialized in acrylic painting and her subject matter was usually wildlife and marine animals. Gayle enjoyed spending time with her friends and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Gettys Lawson, Sr. and Helen Christine Ferguson Lawson. She is survived by her brothers, William G. Lawson, Jr., and Phillip C. Lawson; her sister, Christine Lawson Mack, and her two sister-in-laws, Tara Lawson and Donna Underwood Lawson; two nieces, Phyllis Lawson Frederick and Allison Pittmon Waites; and five nephews, Richard G. Lawson, Brion Pittmon, Eric C. Mack, Sr. Elias S. Mack, IV, and Joshua Brandon Mack, as well as many wonderful friends.
