It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth “Liz” Frances Bowes of Quincy, Massachusetts announces her passing on October 31, 2024. Elizabeth was born in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late Elizabeth (McDonald), & William Flaherty, stepdaughter of Margaret Flaherty. Liz was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and dear friend to many. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met.
In her final moments, she was peacefully surrounded by her family, who offered their love and support. Now reunited with her beloved son Donny in heaven, Liz’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for her strength, compassion, and unwavering love.
She was the loving and devoted wife to Donald Bowes Sr. for the past sixty-two years. Her children and grandchildren will forever be her most cherished gifts. She leaves behind her greatest gifts. Loving mother of the late Donald Bowes Jr and his wife Christine, Thomas Bowes and wife Kathleen and Michael Bowes. Liz was the proud grandmother of Thomas Bowes Jr. and wife Katherine, Donald Bowes Jr, Elizabeth Bowes-Fournier and husband Timothy, Jennifer Bowes, Shane Ceurvels, Matthew Bowes, Kaitlyn and Bridget Sawyer. They will all carry on her legacy of love and kindness. Liz is also survived by many much-loved nieces and nephews.
Loving sister to Ann Long and husband Ralph, sister in-law of Mary Gilmore of sixty years, Linda Bowes & Audrey Bock. She is predeceased by her five siblings, Mary Ostiguy, William Flaherty, Margaret Flaherty, Patricia Jones, & Thomas Flaherty. Liz was the beloved sister-in-law to Douglas & Nancy Bowes, Robert & Jeanne Bowes, Thomas Bowes, Bud Jones, Frank Gilmore and Edward Ostiguy who will greet her as she enters the kingdom of God.
Liz was a diligent and hardworking employee in many insurance companies over the course of her career. She worked at Kemper Insurance, CNA Insurance, Encompass and Allstate insurance. Liz loved walks around Castle Island, sunbathing at local beaches, trips to Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun and Encore, playing cards with family and friends and playing her daily numbers.
A viewing will be held at Keohane Funeral Home Quincy on Saturday, November 9 from 9:00-10:30 AM ahead of her funeral mass at 11:00 AM at St. Ann Church (Divine Mercy) 757 Hancock Street Quincy.
