Whyte, Elizabeth “Betty” (Wajcium) of Quincy, died peacefully at Quincy Medical Center on December 3, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. Beloved wife of 48 years to Elliott Whyte. Loving mother of Daniel Whyte & wife Jean of Braintree, Lisa & husband Edward Daly of Hanover, Linda & husband James DeNeill, Jr., Peter Whyte & wife Lori, all of Norwell, Laura Whyte of Quincy, and the late Stephen Whyte. Loving “Nana” of Erica, Michelle, & Jennifer Whyte, Patrick & Jack Daly, James, III, Stephen & Sarah DeNeill, Samuel, Chloe, and Benjamin Whyte. Sister of Jean Sheehan, Jack Wajcium, Helen Morse, all of Quincy, Mary Theresa Tilley of Weymouth, Marilyn Maloney of Dorchester, and the late Barbara Shaunessy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Betty was an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Quincy Point. She loved New England and and enjoyed summer vacations on Cape Cod for over 40 years, the beach, and trips to Foxwoods. An avid sports fan, she loved the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics. She enjoyed bingo at St. Ann’s Church in Wollaston and playing the daily lottery. She attended many Air Force reunions around the country with her beloved husband Elliott. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Saturday at 10:15 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Quincy at 11 AM. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Church Maintenance Fund, 550 Washington St., Quincy, MA 02169.
