Elizabeth A. “Liz” Mccaffrey

McCaffrey, Elizabeth “Liz” A. (Irving) of Weymouth, died peacefully on May 3, 2023 surrounded by love with her children by her side.

Born in 1963 in Colorado, raised in Massachusetts, Liz was predeceased by her mother Deborah, and was the loving daughter of Thomas and Sharon Irving of Whitman.

Liz will be fondly remembered as a kind and caring woman. She worked at South Shore Hospital for many years starting as a candy striper and working throughout the hospital finishing her career as a buyer. Liz spent much of her free time knitting hats for babies in the NICU, sewing cooling ties to the troops overseas, and making hundreds of masks at the beginning of the pandemic. She was never without her knitting, infectious giggle and quick wit. Liz loved the ocean and feeling the sun on her face.

Liz was the loving wife of 35 years to James McCaffrey of Weymouth, cherished mother of Joshua McCaffrey and wife Casey of Lowell, and Amanda McCaffrey of Weymouth. Grammy of Emmett and Maya. Sister to Michael Irving (Emily), James Irving (Valerie), Andilee Warner, Sharon Vachon (David), Greg Loonan (Kelley), Christine Borden(Dickie) and Colleen Wainwright (Jack). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elizabeth may be made to Hellenic Nursing & Rehab, 601 Sharman Street, Canton MA.
