Eleanore Swanson

Eleanore (Johnson) Swanson of Hingham, formerly Wollaston, died December 31, 2017.

Eleanore grew up in Wollaston before moving to Hingham. She graduated Boston University in 1954 with a bachelor’s degree in education.Eleanore was a member of the Eastern Star for over fifty years, She was a school teacher in Foxboro before getting married and co-owning Swanson’s Swedish Bakery with her husband. Eleanore was the cake decorator of the family bakery business where she created everything from beautiful wedding, to holiday and simple party cakes. She adored her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with them, being by the beach, and hosting holidays and Sunday dinner. Eleanore was a very giving, patient, and selfless woman who was sweet to everyone. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Daughter of the late Emerson and Elsie Johnson. Beloved wife of the late John H. Swanson. Loving mother of Herbert E. Swanson and his wife Linda of Kingston, Linda J. DeNoble and her husband Glenn of Amherst, NH, Karen E.  Swanson of Weymouth, Karl S. Swanson and his wife Kellie of Pembroke, Andrew W. Swanson and his wife Rachel of Rockland, Derrick M. Swanson and his wife Maria of Abington, and Marc E. Swanson and his wife Shirley of Norton. Cherished sister of Eloise Suk of Naperville, IL, and the late Elaine Vaughan and Evelyn Farthing. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 10 AM – 12 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square) followed by a funeral home service at 12 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
