Eleanor “Pat” Jennings

Eleanor Patricia “Pat” Jennings, a life-long North Quincy resident, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on January 5, 2019 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham. She was 95.

Born in Boston, she was raised in North Quincy and was the daughter of the late John J. and Helen M. (O’Leary) Jennings. Pat attended local schools and graduated from the North Quincy High School with the Class of 1941.

Following high school, Pat went right to work. In the beginning of her career it did not take her long to find Sentry Insurance, where she worked for over 45 years. Pat was an Insurance Adjuster and enjoyed her work. Pat happily retired in 1986.

Pat was a humble, loving and kind person. Those who met her immediately loved her and the time they spent together. She had an infectious smile and always made people feel special. Pat was the type of person to never forget your birthday.

In her spare time, Pat loved taking care of her home and working in her garden. Pat’s home was always beautiful, inside and out. She loved flowers and always tended to her plants. In her younger years, Pat could be found tanning at Wollaston Beach. She lived across the street from the water and loved spending time in the sun with the ocean breeze.

A woman of great faith, Pat was devoted to her church, Sacred Heart Parish. She modeled her life in accordance with the three theological virtues of the Church: faith, hope and charity and did her best to live a good and honest life. She was active in her family and community, helping where she could. As Pat aged and was more financially capable, she donated money to many different charities.

The most important part of Pat’s life was her family. She loved her siblings, nieces and nephews more than anything and would do just about anything to help them. Pat’s legacy is the love, compassion, life lessons and examples that now continue through her nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.

She was the devoted aunt of Mark Jennings of Rockland, Paul Jennings of San Diego CA, Carol and David Sarner of Pleasantville, NY, Megan Mason of Holbrook, Bill and Libby Jennings of Bedford NH, Linda Courtiss and Micheal O’Connell of Plymouth, Jack and Joyce Jennings of Belmont, Claire and Terry Logan of Golden, CO, Diane and Joe Ames of Foxboro, as well as her sister-in-law Dolores B. Jennings of West Bridgewater. Pat was preceded in death by her dear siblings Paul R. and William V. Jennings, her sister-in-law Shirley Jennings and her niece Susan Mason. Pat was also adored by her many great nieces and nephews.
