Kane, Eleanor M. “Ellie” of Quincy and Randolph died September 29, 2014 at age 94.
Ellie was one of the most tenderhearted and gentle people you have ever met. You never heard an unkind word pass her lips. In her younger days she always enjoyed lounging in the sun and traveling abroad. She loved the company and laughter of friends and family. Her favorite pastime was doting on her many nieces and nephews, many who thought of her as a second mother. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Daughter of the late John and Annie (Conroy) Kane. Sister of the late Mary Hickey, John, Thomas, Martin, Lawrence, James, and William Kane and Dorothy DiMascio. She is survived by 14 nieces and nephews and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews. Ellie was a long time employee of the Boston Globe.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
Donations in memory of Ellie may be made to Globe Santa, 135 Morrissey Blvd., Boston, MA 02125.
