Elaine (Mahoney) Rooney of Carver, died July 31, 2014.
Elaine was raised in South Boston and was a graduate of South Boston High School. She lived and worked in Quincy for many years where she was a dedicated employee of the City working at various locations including: Quincy Hospital, City Hall, and finally retired from the Quincy Fire Department as the secretary to the Fire Chief. Elaine was also a proud member of the Castle Island Association.
A hard worker and a great quilter, her greatest joy was her family particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchild to whom she was very loving and generous.
Beloved wife of Thomas Rooney. Loving mother of Linda Duane and her husband Brian of Weymouth and Thomas Rooney and his wife Jennifer of Scituate. Devoted “Grandma” to Evan, Brendan, Connor, Kevin, Chelsey and Taylor. Dear “GG” to Lily. Sister of John of NH, James of Feeding Hills, Phyllis Flynn of Hingham, Betty Byrne of Braintree, David of Plymouth and the late Carol, Janet Gruttner, Robert, Edward and Paul Mahoney. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.
