Elaine M. (Nolan) Purdy, 97 years of age, entered Life Eternal at the Allerton House in Weymouth, October 13, 2024. Elaine resided in Weymouth before moving to Plymouth and eventually made her home in Carver.
A graduate of Boston schools, Elaine worked as an accountant the majority of her work life at R.J.Purdy Electric company.
Elaine’s passion for life was evident in her many interests. She was an avid gardener, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of her garden. Elaine’s love of the earth’s beauty, was also evident in her photography and art which captured the hearts of all who had the pleasure of viewing her work.
Traveling was another of Elaine’s joys, her adventurous spirit relished in the discovery of new places and cultures
During her cherished summers on Billington Sea Pond, Elaine’s leadership shone brightly as she served as the President of the Billington Sea Association. In this role, she worked tirelessly to enhance the community she loved so dearly.
She was the daughter of the late Alexander J. Nolan and Elsie E. ( Anderson) Nolan and the sister of the late Hope G. Gray. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond J. Purdy. She was the devoted mother of Carol M. Purdy of Florida and of the late Richard A. Purdy who is survived by his wife Susan Purdy of Plymouth. She was the loving Grandmother of Kristin Goodwin and her husband Lincoln Potwin of California, Matthew Alsheimer of Ashland and Erick Alsheimer and his wife Gillian of Melrose. Elaine was also the Great Grandmother of Landon Alsheimer, Lucy and Ellie Alsheimer. She was the beloved Aunt of Janet Gray of Weymouth, Stephen Gray and his late wife Diane Gray of Manomet and the late Glenn Gray who is survived by his wife Paula Gray of Florida. She was the loving Great Aunt to Jeffrey and Alycia Gray of Attleboro and Nicole Gray of Weymouth.
A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced.
