Elaine M. Mills of Quincy, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025. She was 87.
Born and raised in Dorchester, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Catherine "Mary" (Salter) Mills. She was educated in the Boston Public Schools, graduating from the Jeremiah Burke High School in 1955 and attended the Bryant and Stratton Secretarial School. She worked as an executive secretary for John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company for thirty-five years and after an early retirement, worked for Attorneys Robert L. and Peter J. Hoy of East Milton for fifteen years retiring in 2009.
She moved to Quincy in 1970 and has been a member of St. Joseph's Parish since then having served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member and treasurer of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ladies Sodality. She was a past president of the former Sen Fu Club of the Propagation of the Faith in Boston.
Loving sister of the late Henry J. Mills and his surviving wife, Mary Ellen. She is also survived by her nephew Timothy J. Mills, BPD, and his wife Michelle of Readville, two nieces, Melissa and her husband Patrick Garrahy of Mansfield, and Jennifer and her husband Billy Alves of Dedham, two grandnieces and seven grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 3/10/2025 from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday 3/11/2025 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
