Donaghey, Eileen R. (McCarthy) of Quincy (Squantum), passed away on October 11, 2012, she was 86. Wife of the late James E. Donaghey. Loving mother of James E. Donaghey, Jr and his wife Arlene of Norwell, Kevin and his wife Martha of Fredricksburg, VA, Stephen and his wife Diane of Natick, Susan Alberti and her husband Jon of Quincy, Peter and his wife Dawna of Quincy, Paul and his wife Liz of Somerset, Mark Donaghey of Quincy and his companion Donna White, Brian and his wife Donna of Quincy, Kathleen Donaghey of Warwick, RI, Sean and his wife Maureen of Saunderstown,RI, Denis and his wife Debbie of Hanson, Gary and his wife Nancy of Franklin, Philip Donaghey of Quincy and the late Michael Donaghey and his wife Maryanne of Sandwich. Daughter of the late William J. and Rose (Dunn) McCarthy. Sister of the late James, John, Arthur and Leonard McCarthy and Margaret Peterson. Eileen is also survived by her 32 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Eileen grew up in Arlington. She graduated from Boston University Class of 1947 with a degree in education. Her teaching career in the Quincy Public Schools spanned 40 years. Eileen took great pride in educating not only her own children, but all those whose lives she entered. She enjoyed traveling and swimming. She was a member of Mother of Twins Club as well as the Star of the Sea Catholic Women’s Club. The essence of her life were her 14 children, they were the foundation of all that was truly important to her. She will be sadly missed by all those who were fortunate to have known her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Milton Cemetery, Milton. Donations in memory of Eileen may be made to Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer, 1111 Stewart Ave, Bethpage, NY 11714 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
