Edward W. Joy, Sr.

Joy, Edward W., Sr. of Marshfield, formerly of Hanover, and originally from Dorchester, died March 30, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 73.

Ed was a successful  businessman having owned and operated Joy Electrical Co., Inc. in Quincy for 36 years. He had many family and friends working alongside him at the company that became known as the “Joy Boys” throughout the Boston construction sites.  He was a proud member of IBEW Local 103. Ed enjoyed wintering with Carol in Florida. He looked forward to coming home to spend his summers at Humarock Beach with his two kids, daugher-in-law, and two grandchildren.  Ed was one to maintain lifelong friendships and he treasured his weekly “Dorchester Boys Day” get togethers. He was kind, generous and known for the smile that was always on his face.

Beloved husband of Carol A. (Budukiewicz) Joy of Marshfield. Loving father of Edward W. Joy, Jr. and wife Deborah A. of Hanover and Jennifer C. Joy of Quincy. Cherished “Papa” of Whitney A. Joy and Nicholas E. Joy of Hanover.  Brother of James M. Joy of Quincy, Gerald T. Joy of Halifax, Linda M. Dinneen of Quincy, and the late Lorraine C. Noyes and John F. Joy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday, April 5 from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8 AM on Thursday, April 6th prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s of the Sacred Heart Church, Hanover at 9AM. Burial in Hanover Cemetery. All are welcome to come celebrate the Joyful life of Ed from 11-4 on Thursday at the I.B.E.W. Local 103 Union Hall at 256 Freeport Street in Dorchester.
