Pyne, Edward S. of Hingham October 28, 2003. Beloved husband of 64 years to Betty (Briggs) Pyne. Loving father of Julianne Jordan of Norwell and Stephen Pyne of Mansfield. Brother of Eleanor Prince of Portland, ME and Charles Pyne of Lake Oswego, OR. Loving grandfather of Andrea Hottleman and Carolyn Bohnenberger. Also survived by 4 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Service in St. John the Evangelist Church, 172 Main St., Hingham Saturday 11 AM. There are no visiting hours and burial will be private. Mr. Pyne died Tuesday at South Shore Hospital after a period of failing health. He was born in Boston, the son of Edward and Bertha (Sartoris) Pyne and was a lifelong resident of Hingham. He graduated Hingham High, Class of 1931 and attended Franklin Institute. During WWII, he was employed at the Hingham Shipyard and saw the first keel layed and the last ship launched. He was a member of the Quarterman’s Association. He was a registered professional engineer with the Commercial Union (One Beacon) and a member Emeritus of the American Society of Safety Engineers. He was a faithful communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church, serving on the vestry. He was a Trustee of the Gar Hall for 10 years. He volunteered at South Shore Hospital and was director of the Hingham Historical Society. He and his wife enjoyed traveling extensively. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Pyne may be made to Norwell Visiting Nurses Assoc., 320 Washington St., #10, Norwell, MA 02061.
