Edward P. Rose, affectionately known as "Eddie," passed away on December 22, 2024, at the age of 69. A devoted Boston firefighter, Eddie served with integrity and dedication, first on Ladder 21 in East Boston for ten years and later on Ladder 15 in Boston on Boylston Street where he retired. His commitment to fire service was deeply rooted in his family heritage; his father, Henry J. Rose, was also a firefighter, and from a young age, Eddie was inspired to follow in his father's bootsteps.
Born on January 7, 1955, Eddie grew up in Dorchester but had made Hull his home in later years. He was a proud graduate of Boston Technical High School and Boston Fire Academy, setting the stage for a career that he cherished dearly. Not only was he devoted to his profession, but he was also a loving and cherished member of his family, who will remember him for his warmth and strength.
Eddie leaves behind his beloved wife of 28 years, Mary Martin Rose. Eddie is predeceased by his beloved parents, Henry J. Rose BFD and Nora M. McCarthy, and his siblings: Henry T. Rose, Thomas F. Rose BPD, Robert E. Rose, and survived by sister Margaret M. Rose Albanese. Despite their absence, Eddie's legacy continues through his many great and grand nieces and nephews, as well as his Aunt Mary Warren and numerous cousins, who will fondly remember their time with him.
Throughout his life, Eddie took pride in standing alongside his fellow brothers and sisters in service. His family recalls a poignant memory of him flying down the fire pole at Engine 10 on Mt. Vernon Street, which ignited his passion for firefighting—a journey they were all immensely proud of.
As we reflect on the life of Edward P. Rose, we are reminded of his unwavering dedication to his loved ones and his profession. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A visitation and funeral service to celebrate Eddie’s life will take place on January 7, 2025, at Keohane Funeral Home in Quincy, MA. The community is invited to come together to honor a man who not only served bravely but loved fiercely. May he rest in peace and find solace in God's embrace.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Lung Association.
