Edward L. Melanson

Edward (Ed) L. Melanson, Sr. 80 of Quincy, died August 31, 2012 surrounded by family after a brief illness. Beloved and devoted husband of Carolyn (Galvin) and loving father of Karen of Laguna Hills, CA, Edward Jr. of Denver, CO, Paul of Syracuse, NY and the late Michael of Quincy. Much-loved grandfather of Samantha, US Army, Germany, Nickolaus , US Air Force, England, and James, Daniel, Edward, and Anne of Westford. Ed was the son of late Monte and Elizabeth (LaBlanc) Melanson of Boston and is survived by his sister Mary Schools of Norwood, Paul Melanson of Boston, and his sister-in-law of Janice Kenefick of Norton as well as by several nieces and nephews. Ed was a retired engineering technician of Kinney Vacuum and a former employee of Norton Metals and NRC. Ed was also a former Boy Scout leader of Troop 14 in Quincy. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, September 7 from 4-8 PM at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Keohane Funeral Home on Saturday, September 8 at 9:15 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock St, Quincy at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Ed may be made to the Old Colony Hospice. 247 North Main Street, Randolph, MA 02368-4168, www.oldcolonyhospice.org.
