Edward J. Ray

Mr. Edward J. Ray, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully at home on April 20, 2023, with his children by his side.  Mr. Ray had been battling lung cancer over a period of time.

Ed grew up in Dorchester and spent his summers vacationing with his family in their cottages in Hull, MA. Memories of his childhood spent at Nantasket Beach was a favorite topic.  He proudly served with the Army National Guard.  Ed was a retired team leader, bridge inspector for the State of Massachusetts until his retirement in 2019.  Ed lived and raised his children in Weymouth and treasured the time spent with friends and family. You could find Ed relaxing at home on his recliner watching television with his cat “Oliver” napping on his lap.

Mr. Ray was the loving husband of the late Rita C. Ray. Loving and devoted father of his son, Edward Ray II and his wife, La`Princia and his daughter, Melissa Ray, all of Weymouth.  He is also survived by his brother, William L. Ray and his wife, Patricia, of Wisconsin, his sister, Virginia F. Ray, of Hull and the late John Ray and Donna Theberge Sims.  Brother in law of Paul Cassidy of Randolph, Janice Meegan of Weymouth, Jennifer McGinnis and her husband, James, of Hanson, and Peter Cassidy and his wife, Cindy, of Raynham. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
