Edward J. Murray

Murray, Edward of Rockland,  formerly of Hingham, died December 30, 2016.

 The Beloved husband of 50 years to Maura T. (Downey) Murray. Loving father of Sean Murray and his wife Virginia of Norwell, Brian Murray and his girlfriend Melanie Mioduszewski of Norwich, CT and Brenda Murray and her boyfriend John Cartwright of Albany, NY. Son of the late Edward J. Murray, Sr. and Florence (Dalton) Murray.  Brother of John Murray and his wife Margaret of Hingham and the late Thomas Murray. Cherished grandfather of Charlotte and Shannon Murray of Norwell and Elina Murray of Norwich, Ct. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

 He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Edward graduated from Bentley College where he received his accounting degree. He worked for High Vacuum Equipment in Hingham for 35 years before taking a position at Union Gear in Quincy where he continued working for 12 years before his retirement. Ed enjoyed repairing just about anything that needed to be fixed. He was talented in all  aspects of home repair. He also enjoyed working in his yard, landscaping and traveling. He found great pleasure in taking care of not only his family but his dogs as well. He was devoted to them all. Ed will be remembered as a true gentleman with a great sense of humor. His quick wit and his friendly manner made him a man with many friends. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8pm in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM.

Cremation will follow. In lieu of of flowers, donations in memory of Edward may be made to Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
