Edward J. Montminy

Montminy, Edward J., 88, a native of Berlin, NH and resident of Linden Ponds in Hingham, MA died at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth March 17. The son of Henry and Marie (Olivier) Montminy, he was pre-deceased in 2007 by his wife of 64 years, Anita (Lemieux), and by his son, Paul E. Montminy. Ed is survived by daughters Judith Wilbur and her husband David of Hingham, Louise Rivard and her husband Eugene of Surprise, AZ, and Claire Shean and her husband Robert of Catonsville, MD. He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Marcia Montminy of Rochester, NH, by brothers Robert of Tyler, TX and Leo of Gorham, NH, by 8 grandchildren, and by 9 great-grandchildren. Ed was the Health Officer for the City of Berlin from 1947 to 1966, then joined the U.S. Public Health Service in which he rose to become the Regional Health Administrator for New England, the position from which he retired in 1992 after 26 years service in the Region I Boston office. During his tenure with the USPHS, he attended Northeastern University, earning a B.S. in Health Care Administration and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. A veteran of World War II during which he served in the Army Medical Corps, Ed later joined the New Hampshire National Guard from which he retired as a Colonel after many years service. After his retirement and prior to becoming a resident of Linden Ponds in 2008, he was a resident at the Taylor Home Community of Laconia, NH. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 5-7pm in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in Mt.
