Edward J. “Budso” Mcdonough

Edward J. “Budso” McDonough of Braintree, died after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family, January 7, 2016 at the age of 79.

Originally from Dorchester, “Budso” graduated from St. Gregory’s grammar school, St. Sebastian’s High School, and was a 1957 graduate of Boston College. He worked as an accountant for Kirshner and Yellin Accounting Firm in Boston and for the State Auditor’s office, each for over 20 years. The focus of his life was his family, friends, faith, and work. 

He was the beloved husband of the late Joyce A. (McCarthy) McDonough. Loving father of Mark McDonough and wife Lisa of Belmont, Joseph McDonough and companion Claire Coen of Braintree, Elizabeth Barry and husband Joseph of Abington, Kara Tempesta and husband Sean of Braintree and John McDonough and wife Kelly of Canton. Cherished “Budso” to his grandchildren: Christopher, Nicole, Ryan, Daniel, Bryan, Alicia, Colleen, Molly, Lauren, Payton, Jared, Regan, Edward and the late Allison. Brother of the late Helen Twohig of Plymouth, Elizabeth DiGirolamo of Canton, Thomas McDonough of Scituate and John McDonough of Quincy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Clare’s Church, Braintree at 10 AM. Burial in Plain Street Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edward may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), N.E. Chapter, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
