Edward Charles Doran

Edward “Ed” Charles Doran 10/16/1948 – 1/8/2023

Family and friends celebrate the wonderful life of Ed Doran. He passed away in peace at the beautiful Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham, MA on January 8, 2023. He was surrounded by love and prayers.

Ed lived his younger life with his immediate and close extended family in Quincy, MA with his grandparents, parents, aunt and uncle, brother, and two cousins. Following high school, he briefly attended the Berklee School of Music. Ed was an accomplished musician and played the drums. He married his wife, Peg, in 1967 and they soon started a family together. He continued to play the drums but his focused shifted. Ed formally gave up his musical career and became an electrician. He was a member of The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW)  Local 103 in Boston for more than 50 years.  He moved to Hingham after the birth of his daughter, Michelle in 1968 with his his wife Peg. They raised three children – Michelle, Steven, and Kevin – and lived in Hingham for more than 50 years.

Ed found pleasure in many things including music, his family, his faith, sports, planting flowers, working on his home, and spending time on the Cape with his brother Robert Doran and his wife Judy, and best friends Joel and Cathy Ruggiano. Ed and Peg were gracious and welcoming to those they loved. The Doran house was always full of guests and the door was always open to friends and family. Family holidays, milestone celebrations, and Sunday dinners were common occurrences. Ed was very involved in his children’s sports including hockey and softball. As a grandfather, he was involved in his grandson’s sports in HIngham and was a familiar face on the sidelines. He loved taking his grandchildren to Brigham’s in Hingham, the arcade at Nantasket Beach, and hosting the family for Christmas.

Ed’s wife Peg passed away in December of 2016 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home. He is survived by his children Michelle Doran of Hingham, Steven Doran and daughter-in-law Brooke Doran of Kingston, MA, and Kevin Doran and daughter-in-law Mara Doran of Santa Monica, CA. Also his six grandchildren Emilio Doran of Fontana, CA, Noah Rawoof and Anna Doran of Hingham, Chloe Doran of Kingston, MA,  Annalee and Alexandra of RI. Also his cousins David Horrigan of Quincy, MA and John Horrigan of Whitman, MA.

Ed will be so missed by so many. He was a kind, generous, and loving person to friends, family, and anyone who needed anything.
