Edward C. Rowell of Ruskin FL, formerly of Hingham, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, October 31, 2021. He was 81.
He was born in Quincy to Clifton Rowell and Esther (Springer). After graduating from Weymouth High School, Edward enlisted in the Navy and served during the Vietnam War from 1958-1964. After serving his country, he was a bit of a jack of all trades. He owned an oil company, plowed, paved driveways, worked security at the Tampa Courthouse, but was most renowned for being a master carpenter.
Edward was a quiet guy and kept to himself mostly, however if you knew him, you knew how kind he was. If he wasn’t fishing, he could be found putting his green thumb to good use in his garden. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Devoted father of Judith Rowell and her wife Anne Holden of Canton, and Michael Rowell and his wife Pamela of Halifax. Loving brother of David Rowell and his wife Kamala of Easton. Cherished grandfather of two and GG of two great grandchildren with two more on the way.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, November 9, from 5-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Graveside Service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edward may be made to the ALS Association, 1300 Wilson Blvd Suite 600 Arlington, VA 22209.
