Edna R. Soraghan

Soraghan, Edna (Regan) of Hingham, formerly of Braintree, died September 21, 2010, at the age of 96. Widow of the late Edward J. Soraghan. Beloved mother of Edna & husband William S. English, Sr., of Hingham; John “Jack” Soraghan & his wife Anne, of Dover; Catherine S. & husband Ronald Murphy, of Lancaster, CA; Alice & husband Robert Poirier, of Hudson. Devoted grandmother of W. Sturtevant English, Jr., Lisa Virello, Catherine E. Dolphyn, Laura E. & Roger Marwill, all of Hingham; Edward “Ted” & Jennifer English of Needham; Clayton & Dr. Nathalie Marie English of Houston, TX; Leigh-Anne M. & David Clarke of Groton ; Stephen & Rejane Murphy of New York City; Dr. Robert Poirier of St. Louis, MO, Michael & Cheryl Poirier both of Hudson and Michelle Poirier of Boston. Cherished great-grandmother of Ryen Dolphyn, Joseph, Evan & Samuel Marwill, Kate & Georgia English, all of Hingham; Teddy, Remington & Addison English of Needham; Mason Clarke of Groton. Edna Soraghan will be remembered for her boundless energy and lively spirit. She loved music and the performing arts. She danced, sang, frequented the theatre, and was an avid reader. She enjoyed international travel, visiting family and friends in Ireland, Germany and Spain. She co-established a Vision Support group for the Town of Braintree and surrounding areas, chaired the Braintree Chapter of AARP, and volunteered in many civic and church endeavors. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., Hingham. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10:15 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in the Church of the Resurrection, Main St., Hingham at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Edna & Edward J. Soraghan Memorial Scholarship Fund at Portsmouth Abbey School, 285 Cory’s Lane, Portsmouth, R.I. 02871-0087, c/o Mr. Pat Burke, Development Office. Interment is private.
