Colligan, Edna B. (Bendell) of North Quincy, died on October 2, 2009 surrounded by her devoted family. She was 86 years old. The beloved and devoted wife of 63 years to John J. Colligan, Ret. QFD. Cherished mother of Joanne Turner and her husband David of North Attleboro and the late Michael Colligan. Devoted grandmother of Tina Delorey and her companion Eric Romsey of Franklin and Tara Cormier and her husband Bryan of Cumberland, RI. Loving great grandmother of Nicholas & Ray Cormier. Sister of Robert & Edward Bendell both of Brockton, Mildred Blackmayr of Woonsocket, RI, Eleanor Olson of FL and Elsie Finch of W. Bridgewater. Edna is pre deceased by 4 brother and sister, she is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Edna grew up in Brockton and married Jack in 1946. She moved to Quincy and started her family. In her earlier years , Edna was the head of the ladies sodality at Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy. As her children grew she took interest in their activities and became a leader in both the Girls Scouts as well as the Boy Scouts. Edna was very talented in cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting and loved to make things for others. She enjoyed shopping with her daughter, going to bingo and traveling . She always enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas and spending time at her home in Florida. Edna will be remembered as a petite lady who always had a giant heart of gold. She will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowning her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Tuesday, 4 PM – 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 8:15AM on Wednesday, prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock St. North Quincy at 9:00 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Edna may be made to Work Inc., 3 Arlington St. N.Quincy, MA 02171 .
