Rainsford, Edmund J. of Weymouth, formerly of Dorchester, died suddenly October 11, 2013 at the age of 92.

Edmund proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  He graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree. A longtime employee of the federal government, he worked for the IRS and later retired as a Management Analyst for the Department of Health, Education and Welfare (HEW) in 1980. Very active in many organizations, Edmund was a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, a charter member of the JFK Library Committee, the Joseph P. Kennedy VFW (of which he was a founding member), the South Shore Antique Auto Club, the Weymouth Democratic Town Committee, the Boy Scout Council, and the Charitable Irish Society. He also enjoyed photography.

He was the husband of the late M. Lorraine (White). Loving father of Virginia Karlis and husband Robert of Hingham, and Edmund Rainsford and wife Jane of CA. Grandfather of Halden Karlis, Greer Lynch, and Blair Rainsford. Great grandfather of Olin and Avery Karlis. Brother of the late Margaret Morrison, Patricia Morrison, and Mary Arcenault.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass was attended by Edmund’s family last week. They are planning a Memorial Service for December, which will be published here.
