Edith M. (Gardiner) Hayes

Edith M. (Gardiner) Hayes, a 70 year resident of Quincy and a retired employee of the New England Telephone Company, died unexpectedly at Quincy Medical Center on Saturday, November 24, 2012. She was 92. Edith was born in Boston and raised in Quincy where she graduated from North Quincy High School in 1939. The beloved wife of the late Thomas J. Hayes, Edith was the beloved mother of Janet T. Hayes of Milton and Kathleen H. Murphy and her husband James of Quincy, “Mimi” to Jacqueline, Patrick, Thomas and Colleen Murphy all of Quincy, the daughter of the late Carmi P. and Sarah G. (Martin) Gardiner and the sister of the late Gertrude Thorne, Ruth Sharkey, Theodore Gardiner, Frederick Gardiner, Kenneth Gardiner and Dorothea Ronayne. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Saturday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Agatha Church, Milton at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours Friday 4:00-8:00 PM. Interment Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.
