E. Muriel (Waldron) Sweeney

E. Muriel (Waldron) Sweeney of Quincy, formerly of Jamaica Plain, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 24, 2019. She was 94.

Born in Boston, she was raised in Jamaica Plain and was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Mary J. (Tully) Waldron. E. Murial attended local schools and graduated from Notre Dame High School with the Class of 1942. After High school, she continued her education and earned her bachelors degree from Emmanuel College with the Class of 1947. E. Muriel worked as a bookkeeper for the Atlas Oil Company in Dedham. After 18 years of service, she retired in 1988. In her retirement, E. Muriel enjoyed needle work, knitting, traveling and spending time with her family, friends and beloved pets. She was a strong willed, generous and caring person who would do anything for the people in her life. Her life lessons and example are part of her legacy that continues through her family. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.

She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur F. Sweeney, who died in 1992. The two married in October of 1954 at the Holy Cross Cathedral in Boston. Together they shared 38 years of loving marriage. The devoted mother of Jean Sweeney of Quincy and the late John M. Sweeney. She was the loving grandmother of Elizabeth Muldoon of Florida, Jennifer Stemen and her husband Matthew of West Virginia, Sean Muldoon and Daniel Muldoon, both of Quincy. The loving great grandmother of Benjamin Arthur Stemen and Henry T. Stemen, both of West Virginia. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her dear siblings the late Virginia M. Waldron and Walter J. Waldron, Sr.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Friday, January 3rd 9-9:30 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Friday, January 3rd prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Milton Cemetery, Milton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of E. Muriel may be sent to People In Need c/o St. Patrick Church, 10 Magazine St., Roxbury, MA 02119.
