Slattery, Dudley “Jim” of Quincy formerly of South Boston, passed away June 26, 2011. Beloved husband of Helen “Sullivan” Slattery of Quincy. Loving father of Maureen H. Oldham and her husband Ed of Quincy, James M. Slattery of Quincy, Donna M. Slattery of Quincy, George J. Slattery and his companion Amy of Quincy, John J. Slattery and his wife Lisa of Quincy. Devoted brother of Margaret Mulrey of Scituate, Katie Edwards and her husband Jim of Tewksbury, Bridget McCarthy and her husband Eugene of Dorchester and the late Brother Martin Slattery , John and Dennis Slattery.Cherished grandfather of Eddie, Patrick and Michael Oldham of Quincy and Alison and John D. Slattery of Quincy. Jim is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Slattery was born in Boston and lived most of his life in South Boston until moving to Quincy six years ago. Jim worked for the Teamsters Union local #82 for 45 years before retiring in 1997. Jim was proud of his South Boston upbringing and would make a point to meet his original group of friends on the beach weekly. He was a avid fan of the Red Sox, Bruins and the Patriots. Most of all Dudley enjoyed picking his grandchildren up from shcool and spending time with all of them. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 11 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Donations in memory of Dudley may be made to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02100: Atten: Michael Grace.
