Douglas H. Rand

Rand, Douglas Harold, of Quincy, died on Thursday, August 12, 2010. Loving and beloved husband of Teresa M. (Coletta ) Rand of Quincy. Dearly loved father of Courtney Rand of Somerville, Danielle Rand of Walpole and Allen Rand of Quincy. Son of the late Allen and Dorothy (Anderson) Rand. Loving brother of Robert Rand of NC., Marilyn Rand of VA, Kathleen Burke of CO, Dorothy Rand of Quincy, Ronald Rand of MD., Allen Rand of Quincy., Judith Cristini of CO., Russell Rand of Hanover., Michael Rand of VA., Thomas Rand of WI., and the late Richard Rand. Doug also leaves behind many dear relatives and close family friends. Born in Weymouth, Mass., Doug was the ninth child of Allen and Dorothy and a life-long Quincy resident. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1971, and then from Lowell Technological Institute in 1975. After college Doug went to work for the Quincy Shipyard. In 1989, he formed Dancourt Remodeling, Inc., and successfully ran his own business for the last 21 years. Known throughout the South Shore for his craftsmanship, ingenuity, and reliability, Doug set the standard for small business excellence. In business and in life, his word was his bond. If he said he’d do something, you knew he would do it, and he would do it well. Doug had rock-solid values and a great sense of humor. He loved life, and his family most of all. His best friend was his wife Teresa; together, they built a lifetime of special memories. A kid at heart for his entire life, he loved all children and was a tireless teacher, coach and mentor. He had a smile and a joke or prank for everyone, and he was always willing to help anyone with anything. Doug was a great host like his father and a gentle, kind spirit like his mother. He was a great husband, father, son, brother and friend. Every day, he made our lives brighter and happier. We loved him dearly, and we mourn for the time he didn’t have just as we cherish the time we did have with him. We miss him, we love him, and we’ll keep him in our hearts, thoughts and prayers always. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Monday, August 16, 2010, 3 – 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:15AM on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 prior to the Funeral Service in Bethany Congregational Church at 11 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
