Dorothy M. Mcdonald

Dorothy M. (Banck) McDonald, of Harwich, cherished wife of the late James F. McDonald and devoted mother of the late Sally M. McDonald, who was so well loved in her life by her parents and a legion of loyal friends, passed away at her home surrounded by her family of friends on January 23, 2015.

Beloved daughter of the late Peter and Marion (Jones) Banck,

Dorothy was born in Boston on April 1, 1928.  She was the sister of the late G. Wade Banck and his wife Dorothy.  Dorothy was raised in Quincy and lived in Weymouth for many years before moving to Harwich in 1978.  Dorothy’s life was defined by her devotion and commitment to her family and those individuals who live among us in innocence encountering challenges in their daily lives and are in need of an articulate voice.  Dorothy’s investment of her time, energy, and expertise enriched the lives of countless individuals providing opportunities and experiences for them to expand their horizons.

A pragmatist, Dorothy saw promise in the midst of obstacles and sought to promote possibilities.  A person whose actions were characterized by her values, Dorothy inspired by example.  She will be sorely missed by the many whose lives were enriched by her presence.  At her request, visiting hours are omitted.

A Mass celebrating her life will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in East Weymouth on Saturday morning, January 31, 2015 at 10:30.  Interment at a later date will be held at the Old North Cemetery in North Weymouth.

For those who wish, donations in her memory may be made to The Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism, PO Box 767 Framingham, MA 01701
