Dorothy Ayers Jacobson

Dorothy (“Dottie”) Ayers Jacobson of Hingham passed away on May 14th , 2014 surrounded by her family. 

Born in Hingham, she was the daughter of the late Frank Sr. and Irene Ayers and the wife of the late John “Jake” Jacobson.  She was a graduate of Hingham High School where she was the first female President of the Student Council in 1942.  She was employed at the Hingham Trust Company then at Bradford Weston Inc. for several years.

Dottie owned and managed “Jake’s Seafood Restaurant” in Hull after her husband passed away in 1971 until she retired in 1985.  She is survived by her two loving daughters, Jan M. Jacobson of Hingham and Susan Brown and husband Jim and her treasured grandchildren Ashley and Jake, of Ashland. 

She is also survived by her dear brother, Robert O. Ayers, of Hingham and predeceased by older brother, the late Frank Ayers Jr. and younger sister, the late Mary Ayers Demko, all of Hingham and several loving and devoted nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 3-7pm in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street (off Central St.) HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday at 9:15am prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church Tuesday at 10am. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dottie’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 727 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX or to a charity of your choice.
