Doris M. (Brogie) Dunbar of Quincy, formerly of North Weymouth passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 17, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl F. Dunbar, Sr. Doris was born in Boston, November 9, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Florence Brogie. She grew up in the Back Bay section of Boston and later settled in North Weymouth, where she made her home and raised her family for over fifty years. She worked at Marshall’s in Hingham for over 30 years, where she was dubbed “The Mayor of Marshall’s” and remembered for her friendly smile and familiar face that greeted many.

Doris loved to spend time with her family, supporting and attending her grandchildren’s dance recitals and sporting events. Doris never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone she met. Doris loved to travel, and in recent years she enjoyed cruises to Bermuda with her husband Carl.

Three years ago, Doris moved to Brookdale in Quincy, with her loving cat, Dallas, where she made friends and joined new activities like painting classes and trivia. Doris was a member of the East Weymouth Chapter of T.O.P.S. for many years, even serving as President, where she encouraged and supported members.

As the Mom of 10, Doris is survived by her loving children, Christine Farrar and her husband Tom of Whitman, Kathleen Sullivan of San Marcos, CA, Cheryl Reynolds and her husband Bob of Dexter, ME., Kimberly Devin Weymouth, Michelle Dunbar and her partner Tony Davies of Weymouth, Holly Dunbar and her husband Rick of Weymouth, and the late Brian Dunbar and Carl F. Dunbar, Jr. Also survived by 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the caring and supportive staff of the CCU at South Shore Hospital.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Saturday, January 28, 2023 held 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth. A funeral mass will follow the visitation in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in loving memory of Doris to ASPCA.
