Doreen A. (Steinmetz) Chamberlain, of Quincy, died suddenly at her home, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. She was 66.
Doreen was born in Dorchester on November 1, 1958, and was the daughter of the late Donald and Italina (Mucci) Steinmetz.
Growing up with 4 brothers, Doreen was a true Boston sports fan and especially dedicated to the Bruins and Patriots, rarely missing a game and cheering them on with fervor. She also enjoyed curling up with a cup of tea and a good book. She had a love for snowmen and you would always find snowmen displayed in her home even in the summer months. She always loved being on the Cape and near the ocean.
A true lover of music, Doreen’s spirit was deeply influenced by the melodies of some of her favorite artists. She often spent hours listening to her tunes. Her favorite band, The Beatles, served as a soundtrack to the wonderful life she led. She was, in many ways, a flower child at heart, embodying the ideals of peace, love, and harmony in all she did.
Doreen's greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her son, Derek. Whether gathered for a holiday meal, a casual Sunday afternoon, or just a quiet chat, she found comfort in being surrounded by those she loved most. As “Auntie,” she was a constant presence in the lives of her nieces and nephews, showering them with affection, wisdom, and laughter. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she will forever be remembered as a kind, loving, and supportive aunt.
Doreen was the beloved mother of Derek M. Chamberlain of Dorchester. She was the devoted sister of Richard Steinmetz and his wife Paula of Wilmington, Robert Steinmetz and his wife Susan of Wisconsin, Paul Steinmetz and his wife Jane of Quincy, and the late Steven Steinmetz. She was the loving Auntie Doreen of Kristen Ricker and her husband Michael of New Hampshire, Rick Steinmetz and his wife Catie of Northbridge, Scott Steinmetz and his wife Andrea of Lowell, Grace Steinmetz of Wilmington, Matthew Steinmetz of Wilmington, Erik Steinmetz of Wisconsin, and her godchild Jenna Steinmetz of Quincy. She was the loving Great Aunt to six and is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Cremation will follow. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the charitable organization of one's choice.
