Donald W. Schaefer

Schaefer, Donald W. “Donnie” of Braintree, passed away on October 10, 2023. Donnie was born in North Quincy to the late Donald and Joanne Schaefer. He was a graduate of North Quincy High School, class of 1975. Upon his high school graduation, Donnie was a proud United States Army veteran. Donnie built his career in the waste management industry. He strategically landed with Troupe Waste where he was a Maintenance Manager for 15 years. John and Doug Troupe were the sons he never had, and he cherished his relationship with them. If Donnie was not at work, he would be relaxing with his wife at their Dennis Port home. Donnie was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed bringing his daughters to ice skate in their younger years. His kind and giving spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Beloved husband of Joyce Schaefer of Braintree and the late Wendy Schaefer. Loving father of Kelly Anne Lazaron of NH and Dawn Marie Jancsics and her husband Joe of NY. Dear brother of Matthew Schaefer of CA and Michelle Schaefer of Somerset. Cherished Papa to Cameron Schaefer and Kylie Lazaron and uncle of Matthew Schaefer of TX. Also the dedicated dog dad to Izzi and Lula.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
