Donald Timothy Taylor, age 79, passed away on March 21, 2016. He was born in Boston and raised in Dorchester and Milton. Don attended Milton schools and graduated from BC High School and Northeastern University.
He was the son of the late Timothy A. and Sarah M. Taylor of Milton, MA. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maureen E. Taylor; sons Jonathan A. and his wife Monica of Hanover, MA, and Christopher A. and his wife Erica of Kittery, ME. He leaves behind six grandchildren; Timothy, Abigail, Liam, Aubrey, Brendan and Meghan Taylor.
Don built a career at Spaulding-Moss Printing, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Boston University and Honeywell Co. While at Honeywell, in addition to programming and sales, he taught classes that were loved by their employees. He developed hardware which helped Honeywell to grow in the computer field and received many awards for his great work.
After retiring he started his own computer consulting and tax business. Later he joined his son Jonathan in Jon’s Landscaping Business, an endeavor they continued together for 25 years.
Don enjoyed serving as Den Chief for Hingham’s Cub Scout Pack 4 for many years. He organized derby car races, campouts in Wompatuck State Park, and was known for wearing the head dress of the Indian Chief during pack meetings.
He was a member of the Weymouth Lodge of Elks #2232 where he bartended and catered many of their functions.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Blessing in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Donald T. Taylor to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
