Donald T. “Don” Tracey

Mr. Donald “Don” Tracey, 84, of Weymouth, with family and friends by his side, passed away from complications of a stroke after a long, hard-fought battle on February 17,2017. Don was born December 28,1932 in Boston, and grew up in Mission Hill. Don attended Boston Tech High School and Northeastern University. Don married his high school sweetheart, Jane Mc Grath in 1953.

As a young man, Don joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked as an engineer at M.I,T,Stone & Webster and later Raytheon, where he worked on air missile defense systems, including the Patriot Missile.

Don was proud of his military service (he could usually be found wearing his Korean War Veterans hat), his work as an engineer, and especially of his children and grandchildren. Don will be remembered for his conversational nature, his heavy driving foot, his love of popsicles, sci-fi, Boston Sports, his smooth dance style (light on his feet) but mostly as a loving, selfless, honest, and trustworthy son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa and friend.

Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jane (Mc Grath) Tracey, his children Richard and his wife Doreen of Plymouth, Donald of Texas, Susan Allen, and her husband Steve, of Brookfield, Ct., Glenn and his wife  Michelle, of Plymouth, and Kimberly of Braintree, his grand-children, Stephen and his wife Laura of Natick, Kate and her husband Steve of Waltham; Paul and his wife Kristen of Stoughton, Samantha and her husband Drew of Framingham, Kyle and his wife Amanda of Bridgewater and Shea, a student at the United States Military Academy at West Point; and a granddaughter Danielle of Texas; two great grandsons Bobby and Connor. A very special thanks to all the girls from Home Instead in Norwell.  They were more than caretakers, special friends to dad, especially Rhonda, Karen and Lisa.

How do you put a persons life in such a small story? Dad was strong, smart, caring and heaven has a new angel and here on earth our hearts ache, until we meet again Dad, Grandpa Don….We love you and will miss you…..
