Donald P. “Dutchie” Coyne

Coyne, Donald P. “Dutchie” of Weymouth, died April 22, 2014.

Dutchie lived in South Boston for many years before moving to Weymouth over 45 years ago. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. For over 40 years, Dutchie worked for the New England Telephone Company. Upon retirement, he went on to work for Tender Leaf Gardens in Norwell for 18 years. Dutchie loved the outdoors, especially sailing his boat along the Harbor Islands. He enjoyed bike riding, attending his grandchildrens’ sporting events and enjoying time with his family. 

After 57 years of a loving marriage, Dutchie is at peace with his wife Elizabeth A. “Betty” Coyne. Devoted father of Marla True and her husband Mitch of Fairfield, VT and Kevin Coyne and his wife Carolyn of Marshfield. Cherished “Papa” of Sheila Mercon, Kevin O’Donnell, Ethan Sawyer, Benjamin Sawyer, Sarah Coyne, Caity Coyne and great-grandchildren Katie Mercon and Kevin O’Donnell. Loving brother of Phyllis Phelps of Michigan, Joanne Paquette and her husband Ray of South Boston, Pat Maltese and her husband John of Braintree, Kathy Keefe and her husband Tommy of Florida and the late Richard Coyne and his late wife Barbie. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM.
