Donald M. Tardiff, Md

Donald M. Tardiff, MD of East Weymouth, died peacefully at home on December 15, 2021 at the age of 97. 

Dr. Tardiff grew up on a farm in Maine and proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the submarine service during WWII.  He graduated from Tufts Medical School and began his career as a pediatrician in Weymouth, where he was revered by his patients to this day.  Dr. Tardiff was chief resident at Tufts University Medical School and later served on its faculty as a senior clinical instructor in pediatrics for many years.  During his long career, at various times he served as President of the medical staff at South Shore Hospital, director of the South Shore Mental Health Center, and high school physician for the Town of Weymouth.  He also served on the Boards of Directors of the East Weymouth Savings Bank and the Hingham Institution for Savings and appraised real estate for the former bank.  He was a true gentleman, was generous to a fault, and cared deeply for his patients.  He and his wife were longtime members of The Neighborhood Club of Quincy and former members of Marshfield Country Club. He greatly enjoyed poker, bridge, and dining out with his many friends. 

Dr. Tardiff was the husband of the late Edith E. (Rowell) Tardiff, known as Lyn, for 67 happy years.  Loving father of Richard M. Tardiff and his wife Joy of Braintree.  Proud and doting grandfather of Kate and Dan.  Brother of Richard C. Tardiff of Whitesboro, NY, and seven other siblings who predeceased him. 

At the request of the family, all services were private.
