Donald M. Ross

Donald M. Ross of Hingham, died September 28, 2022.  The beloved husband of 48 years to Susan (MacLean) Ross. Loving father of Mark Jobin of Quincy, Suzanne Holmquest and her husband Kirk of Hingham and Philip Jobin and his wife Keri of Abington. Grandfather of Anders Holmquest of Hingham.  Brother of Barbara McGuane and her husband Charlie of Ayer, MA. Brother in law of Alexander MacLean of Hingham and the late Janet Carlino. Donald is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Don grew up in Egleston Square and enlisted in the Marine Corp on October 7, 1953. He served overseas in the Korean War for one year, two months, and 17 days. He went in as a PVT and when his active service was terminated on October 6, 1955, he was a CPL. He was employed for 38 years by Boston Edison. Don, or Arnie as his teammates referred to him, played hockey most of his life. He tried out for the US Olympic Hockey Team, skated in local leagues, and refereed for many years in Quincy, Weymouth, and Hingham before reluctantly hanging up his skates at aged 77. Don and his wife Susan loved to travel to historically significant destinations and made new friends everywhere they went. But Don’s favorite place on earth was Ft. Myers, Florida where he and Susan spent their winters the last 28 years. 

As much as Don loved hockey, traveling, retirement, Florida, and beer, Susan was the love of his life. He loved her more today than he did 48 years ago when he married her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 10:00-11:30 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:30 AM in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham.

Burial in Old North Cemetery, Weymouth.
