Donald J. Hernberg

Hernberg, Donald J.“Red” of Hull formerly of Hingham, died February 7, 2015. Beloved husband of 58 years to Kathy Hernberg of Hull. Loving father of Gael Rosen of Hull, J. Thomas Hernberg of Las Vegas, NV, Neil Hernberg and his wife Betsy of Dubai, UAE, Diane Hoffses and her husband Brian of Hull and the late Paula Hernberg.  Cherished grandfather of Geoff and Drew Rosen, Addy, Harry, J.D. and Coco Hernberg. Red is also lovingly survived by Brian Keyo of Worcester and Michelle Keyo-Sheahan of Sedwick, Maine.  

Red was a graduate of Lawrence Academy and attended both Babson and Boston College before serving in the Army during the Korean War where he was stationed in the 38th Parallel.  He worked for United Causality & Surety Insurance Co. for 20 years before retiring. Red had a love for sports especially hockey.  Red was truly about family, faith and friends, they were his life and that is what made him so happy.  Red’s dedication, love and joy he had for his daughter Paula during her life was if two hearts were one.  He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his genuine love for people.  He will be truly be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known and loved him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Private burial in Liberty Plain Cemetery, Hingham.
