QUINCY– Donald H. Spink, Sr. passed away on January 28, 2019 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth following a brief illness. He was 87.
Don was a lifelong resident of Quincy, son of the late Harold and Ethel (Heath) Spink. A 1949 graduate of Quincy High School, he served overseas as a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked for many years as a sheet metal fabricator for S.H. Couch in Quincy.
Don was an avid, fleet-footed, and talented dancer who loved music and melodically carried a tune into his later years. He enjoyed walking throughout the city and traveling to new places. Don was known as a keen practical joker. He loved animals, but especially his beloved dog Ginger and his cat, Ms. Annabelle Star. Don cherished the time he spent with his large extended family.
Donald was the beloved husband and childhood sweetheart of the late Louise (Gordon) Spink, devoted father of Donald Spink, Jr. of Quincy, and Jim Spink and his wife Joanna Poole of Arlington. Don was a loving, proud, and devoted grandfather to Sophie and Elyse Spink. Papa Don was often seen leading the parade, enjoying the tea party, and joining in any and all games with his granddaughters. Don was brother to seven late siblings: Harold, Stanley, Robert, Raymond, and Wilbur Spink, Doris Barnard, and Luna Clements. He missed his brothers and sisters dearly. Don is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects during visiting hours on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy.
