Donald Joseph "Chick" Fitzgerald

Donald Joseph “Chick” Fitzgerald, of Quincy, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. He was 95.

Donald was born in Boston on November 7, 1929, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna (Norton) Fitzgerald. He was raised in South Boston and attended local schools.

After high school, Donald enlisted in the United States Army on November 19, 1940. He proudly served his country during WWII and the Korean War. Donald was honorably discharged on April 15, 1948. Following his time in the service, Donald went to work for Boston Edison, where he was a proud member of Local 369. He retired from Boston Edison after 41 years of service.

Donald was the beloved husband of the late Madeline (Burnett) Fitzgerald, who died in 1997. He was the devoted father of Jacqueline G. Fitzgerald and her partner Bib Minton of Quincy, Traci E. Fitzgerald of Quincy, Donald W. Fitzgerald and his wife Stacey of New Hampshire, the late Pamela A. Ondik, and the late Carole E. Fitzgerald. Donald was the grandfather of Michael Ondik of PA, Megan Ondik of PA, and the late Paul Ondik. He was the uncle of Lisa Slattery and her husband Jack of Quincy and the brother-in-law of Joan Robey of Quincy. Donald was preceded in death by his five siblings. He is also survived by many loving nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, prior to the Funeral Mass at Divine Mercy Parish in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM.

Services will conclude with interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Donald's name to the charitable organization of one's choice.
