Donald F. Mathewson

Donald F. Mathewson of North Weymouth, died January 26, 2023 at the age of 90.

Donald was a lifelong resident of Weymouth and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as both a machinist and director of sales for Mathewson Machine Works in Quincy for many years. He was a past commodore at Wessagusset Yacht Club; a past deputy sheriff for Norfolk County; a former member of the Weymouth Historical Commission; a former member of the Weymouth Cemetery Committee; a longtime Town Meeting Member; and the former director of Mt. Hope Cemetery. Don was passionate about sailing and enjoyed volunteering for the Wessagusset Yacht Club sailing program for many years.

He was the husband of the late Sally Ann (Parker) Mathewson. Loving father of Margaret “Meg” Kent and her husband Jeffrey of North Weymouth; Donald P. Mathewson and his wife Lori of North Weymouth; Michael B. Mathewson of Nashua, NH; Mary Mathewson Heinrichs and her husband Peter of Norwell; and Susan J. Denherder and her husband Steven of North Weymouth. Proud “Grampy” to 15 grandchildren. Brother of Wilfred B. Mathewson of East Weymouth and the late Virginia Snowman.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.
