With great sorrow and joy, the family of Dominic (Rocky) Ruggiero (formerly of North Weymouth, MA) announces his peaceful passing on December 15, 2021 Sorrow as he will be sorely missed. Joy as the mention of his name will always brings a smile and beautiful memories. We are so grateful for the dedicated staff at the Bedford Veteran’s Hospital that gave Rocky exceptional, compassionate and loving care during his journey the past few years with Alzheimer’s.
Loving husband of Carol Ann (Greenleaf) Ruggiero. Beloved father of Laurie Orr and her husband, Dan, of Carlsbad, CA; Linda Kosich of Strasburg, PA, Steven and his wife, Donna, of Uxbridge, MA, Kimberly Ann Dutra and her husband, Michael, of Pembroke, MA and his sister, Antoinette (Dolly) Ryan of Brighton, MA. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his stepson, Joseph Kalesnick and his grandson Brandon Ruggiero.
Son of the late Giuseppe and Antonietta (Gargaro) Ruggiero, he is also predeceased by his brothers, Rocco and Angelo and four of his sisters, Grace, Rose, Mary, and Josephine.
Born October 24, 1930, he was raised in Newton, After graduating from Newton High School, he proudly served in the United States Air Force for six years during the Korean War, as a flight mechanic on the B-29. While in the military, he applied to every school available to him to continue his education and went on to studying at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Rocky enjoyed an interesting career taking him to all corners of the world. He retired from John Solomon, Inc. as VP/Director of Mfg. He served on the Weymouthport (our home) Board of Trustees as Treasurer for over ten years, as a Weymouth Council member and the Vestry of the Church of the Holy Nativity, as well as several other organizations.
A true patriot, with many hobbies and interests, including all Boston sports, golfing, photography, travel, dancing, music, walks on the beach and the sunshine, Aruba and trips to Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, where he proposed to the love of his life in 1989 were two of his and her favorite places. Rocky will be remembered for his deep faith, his kindness, generosity, strength of character, sharp wit, sharing stories of his many adventures and his childhood, his gentleness, the pride he took in his work, his smile, his beautiful blue eyes, his patience, his calmness, his joyous humor, and all the love that he brought into the world, his strong conviction to his beliefs and always being a gentleman.
