Diane R. Gillespie

Diane R. (Crowder) Gillespie of Plymouth, formerly of Weymouth, died suddenly on October 25, 2019 at the age of 77.

Diane grew up in Weymouth and raised her family there before retiring to Plymouth. She was a proud former employee of United Shoe Machinery Corp in Boston, where she worked from 1959-1968. A creative person, Diane enjoyed painting and crafting. When her children were young, she volunteered as Cub Scout Den Mother, helped make costumes for minstrel shows and was known as “Mom G” in Rainbow and DeMolay. She was often considered a second mother to her children’s friends and neighborhood kids. She devoted her life to her family and will be remembered for her genuine kindness and loving nature.

Wife of the late late Noel E. Gillespie. Loving mother of Elizabeth Gillespie of Plymouth and William Gillespie and his wife Shaune of Abington. Loving sister of Norma Price of Carver and Judy Gardner of South Weymouth. Devoted “Nanny” to Justin Rowan, Jonathan Rowan, and the late Joshua Rowan. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne on Friday at 1:15 PM.
