Derek Daniel Mahoney

Derek Daniel Mahoney passed away quietly at home on February 14, 2024. He was 51. Born in Malden, MA, Derek spent many years in South Boston and the surrounding area with his mother, Pepsi Mahoney, and his partner, Michael Venuti, along with many loving friends.

Derek loved so many things. He loved his mother, Pepsi, he adored his grandmother, and he cherished his time with his friends, especially watching Loony Toons with them. Michaels family also meant the world to Derek, particularly taking care of Granny.

Derek was not a “cookie cutter” guy! Some of Derek’s favorite things were Metallica, wizards, dragons, cooking, and enjoying a good meal with his friends. He also was obsessed with Queen of Daytime, Miss Wendy Williams!

One of the most memorable attributes of Derek was his SUPER loud and annoying laugh, everyone will miss hearing it.

Derek just loved, he truly loved. He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he was part of.

Son of Margaret “Pepsi” Mahoney of Revere, MA, and partner of Michael Venuti, of Quincy, MA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Visiting Hours on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 10 AM at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy, and his Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM also at Keohane Funeral Home. Burial will be at Holyhood Cemetery, 584 Heath St, Brookline, MA 02467.
